Short introduction
For confirmed ash component projects, dimensional and moisture requirements are checked against the agreed specification. This note describes the inspection method we can apply to kiln-dried ash components — it is a method reference, not a dated test result.
What we check
- Moisture content — pin or pinless meter readings at several points on the component.
- Thickness and width — measured against the agreed dimension and tolerance.
- Length and length distribution — confirmed against the packing unit and order breakdown.
- Straightness / bow — checked for warp or bow within the accepted range.
- Surface appearance — review for splits, discoloration and machining marks.
- Packing consistency — pieces grouped by specification within a pack.
Why it matters
Dimensions and moisture have a direct effect on fit, finishing and on-site acceptance. Checking against the confirmed specification before packing helps prevent mixed sizes, unwanted negative tolerance and surface issues reaching the shipment.

How requirements are confirmed
Acceptable moisture level, dimension tolerance and packing rules are confirmed with the buyer before production. Where an order carries a specific requirement — for example a target moisture level or a "no negative tolerance" rule — it is treated as a project requirement, not as a default standard for all ash products.
